Make-up artist and special effects supervisor Roy Knyrim directs this haunting piece which he has reportedly called The Hills Have Eyes with aliens. With his talent on board, it shouldn't come as a major surprise that this low budget sci-fi tale boasts decent effects visuals (for a small independent), with good use of puppet models and costumes to enhance the overall experience of an alien abduction

One night in 1997, thousands of people observed what could come to be known as the "Phoenix Lights." Respected members of the community saw UFOs in the evening sky, a sighting that has never been explained. Based on those events, this sci-fi horror film follows six people as a car crash leaves them vulnerable to the less-than-friendly visitors.
On March 13, 1997, the Phoenix Lights UFO phenomenon occured over Nevada and Arizona, where thousands of people witnessed strange lights in the sky and reported them as UFO's.

Synopsis
Based on one of the penultimate UFO sightings ever reported that was later investigated by U.S. Senator and one-time presidential hopeful John McCain, Night Skies tells the story of five friends on a cross-country trip to Las Vegas who encounter a strange traveler on the same night that thousands watched the skies over the southwestern United States fill with mysterious objects.
Distracted by the spectacular light show the friends collide with a stranger’s broken-down truck on an old dirt road. The accident leaves one of the RV passengers with a terrible injury but, despite their mistrust of the mysterious loner, they’re forced to turn to him for help.
Things rapidly go from bad to worse when the remaining vacationers begin to realize that someone – or something – is stalking them. As they struggle to tend to their friend and get back on the road they’re forced to confront a terrible reality as something not human begins to close in.
The survivors are forced to band together in a desperate attempt to ward off an alien presence. It leads to a terrifying last twenty minutes that have to be seen to be believed.
